Student Conducting Masterclass
APPLICATION

WHO CAN APPLY?
Individuals who will be undergraduate or graduate students in the 2026 fall semester.
IMPORTANT DATES:
Application Opens: March 1, 2026
Application Closes: August 16, 2026
Notification of conductors: August 23, 2026 (at the latest)
GA-ACDA Student Conducting Masterclass: Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 9:00-10:00am
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The recommendation of a current professor/teacher.
A completed application can be filled out here.
A short video demonstrating the applicant’s conducting. It is preferred auditionees conduct a live choir for the audition video. However, they can conduct with the recordings listed below if they do not have regular access to a choir.
Undergraduate: “Bogoroditse Devo” by Sergei Rachmaninoff. An audio file and PDF of the music are included on the GA ACDA conference portal and are linked below. The video recording should have the camera facing the conductor and the music should be loud enough to be heard. The conductor may begin conducting at measure 2. The use of a baton is optional. Please preview the recording before submission.
Graduate: “Ubi Cartias” by Maurice Duruflé. An audio file and PDF of the music are included on the GA ACDA conference portal and are linked below. The video recording should have the camera facing the conductor and the music should be loud enough to be heard. The conductor may begin conducting at measure 2. The use of a baton is optional. Please review the recording before submission.
CONDUCTOR SELECTION PROCESS:
Applicants will be evaluated by current veteran conductors with no association with applicants.
Evaluators will use this Rubric to evaluate conductors.
2026 CONDUCTING MASTERCLASS INFORMATION:
Clinician: Dr. Kevin Fenton, Director of Undergraduate Choral Studies at Florida State University
Demonstration Choir: The Kennesaw State University Chamber Singers (dir. Dr. Ryan Fellman)
Repertoire: Conductors will be assigned repertoire when notified of their acceptance to participate in the masterclass no later than August 23rd.
Masterclass procedure: Four conductors will be chosen, and each conductor will receive 15 minutes to work on their selection.
OTHER:
Invited conductors will receive complimentary conference registration.

Continuing Education Conducting Masterclass

WHO CAN APPLY?
Individuals who serve as school, church, and community choral directors.
IMPORTANT DATES:
Application Opens: March 1, 2026
Application Closes: August 16, 2026
Notification of Conductors: August 23, 2026 (at the latest)
GA-ACDA Continuing Ed. Conducting Masterclass: Friday, October 2, 2026 from 4:00-5:00pm
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A completed application, which can be filled out here.
A short video demonstrating the applicant’s conducting featuring a musical selection of your choosing.
Videos must feature a live choir if you’re selecting your own piece. However, if none are available, applicants can conduct with the recording of “Ubi Cartias” by Maurice Duruflé at the bottom of the page.
If conducting Ubi Caritas, you can begin conducting at measure 2. Be sure the audio recording can be heard in the video.
Videos should be facing the conductor.
The use of a baton is optional.
